September brought rain fronts over the cybersecurity landscape as well. The increase in incidents observed at the end of the summer continued, and the overall outlook for the month was mostly rainy.
It was a fairly active month in terms of cybersecurity incidents, with the symbols on the cyber weather map turning slightly gloomier. Among the month’s headline events were the cyberattack that disrupted operations at several European airports and the denial-of-service attacks detected in Finland.
Phishing activity remained high. In particular, phishing campaigns targeting Microsoft 365 accounts and related data breaches saw significant growth, leading to the publication of an alert.
