Information Security Standardisation Network
The network brings together stakeholders from different sectors to monitor current developments in information security standardisation and regulation, as well as related phenomena. The network shares information and aims to foster active dialogue. It also actively supports networking among participants.
Background
The Information Security Standardisation Network was established in the then Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority in autumn 2016 at the initiative of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The network’s first chair was Chief Adviser Timo Leppinen, and during his one-year term, the network focused on monitoring the standardisation of the internet of things. The current chair Saana Seppänen assumed control of the network in autumn 2017.
Purpose of the network
The network brings various interest groups together to monitor topical standardisation and regulation projects concerning information security and any related phenomena. The network distributes information and aims for active interaction in its activities. Members of the network are also actively encouraged to network.
For whom
The Information Security Standardisation Network is free-of-charge and open to all interested parties. The network currently has roughly one hundred members from various interest groups: members represent companies from small businesses to international operators, telecommunications operators, academia, testing institutions and authorities from various branches of government.

Activities
The network meets 3–5 times a year to discuss current affairs. These meetings usually last approximately three hours. Meetings include overviews of current information security activities at official standards organisations (ISO/IEC, CEN/CENLEC, ITU-T/ETSI), in addition to which the network actively monitors parties such as the OWASP foundation and the 3GPP project. Meetings will also often feature expert talks on topical matters. Meeting materials are also shared with the members after the meeting upon permission from the speakers.
News
Due to growing interest in the harmonised standards for the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), a separate working group was established within the network in February 2026 to address the topic.
